Home Safe Home - February 1 - May 31, 2011

It's important that you take the time to help make your home as safe as possible. The time and effort you take now to learn about fire safety and being prepared for emergencies, can not only give you peace of mind, but it can literally save the lives of those you love. Attend this CommonHealth program to learn about fire safety, food safety, and how to prepare for emergencies.

For instance, when you develop a Fire Safety Plan for your family, make sure you include everyone and practice your plan. Have your kids sit down and help draw out how to get out of the house if there's a fire and where everyone needs to meet.

When it comes to food safety, it's not just about expiration dates on perishable foods. Make sure you understand what "best if used by" and "discard after" really mean on non-perishable items, too.

Finally, make sure you are prepared for emergencies in your neighborhood and work environment. Have a plan to evacuate, a plan when you should stay where you are have a disaster kit to include special needs for family members.

CommonHealth Home Safe Home program takes a closer look at all of these areas.

Each employee who participates will learn how to make a disaster kit, tips on how to help in case of fire and receive a mini first aid kit.
